JAZZ JOINT

Second half of the 80’s brought dramatic changes into the world of dance music.
A different kind of sound was emerging from DJ’s like Paul Murphy, Baz Fe Jazz, Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge and Snowboy. New hype was born and the name was given “Acid Jazz”. Ori ginally it was simply good and groovy jazz, swing, boogaloo, salsa and bossa all mixed and played loud. And of course there were the Jazz Dancers who gave the real feel to the music.
I'll never forget Wednesday nights at the Wag Club down at Wardour Street in Soho, where downstairs the crowd was funkin’ up and cooking, but the peeps at the upstairs room were literally boiling … The rest is history.
